The all-new Ford Transit Courier was officially revealed back in April 2023, but didn’t begin shipping to European customers until this past January. Regardless, the redesigned Transit Courier is one of several newly revamped Blue Oval vans customers have to choose from in that part of the world, which has long shown a preference for them – at least, in the commercial segment. Now, fresh off seeing the Ford Transit Custom take home 2024 International Van of the Year (IVOTY), the Ford Transit Courier aims to make that back to back wins for FoMoCo.
The short list of candidates for 2025 International Van of the Year has been revealed, and there are five finalists that judges will consider – the Ford Transit Courier, Ford E-Transit Custom, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Renault Master, and the Stellantis ProOne Large Van range, which includes the Fiat Ducato, Opel/Vauxhall Movano, Peugeot Boxer, and the Citroen Jumper/Relay, plus the Toyota Proace Max.
“This year, there were 9 nominations, representing 15 light commercial vehicle brands, all in contention for the main prize,” said IVOTY Jury Chairman Jarlath Sweeney. “Ford has two finalists with the Ford Transit Courier and Ford E-Transit Custom, while the Stellantis Group has a multi-model representation through its ProOne Large Van range, while latest Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and all-new Renault Master completes the shortlist. Once again, as per last year, there was a mix of diesel, battery electric, and hydrogen powered vehicles on the long list.”
“Presently, the jury is entering the final election process, to vote the overall winner of the most prestigious and longest established award in the light commercial industry. All members of the International Van of the Year jury are looking forward to the announcement and presentation of the IVOTY 2025 trophy during the IAA Transportation ‘Night of the Stars’ event at Messe Hannover. Roll on IAA Transportation 2024!”
The Ford Transit Courier features all new styling, inside and out, and is available in four trim levels – Base, Trend, Limited, and Active – as well as with engines including the turbocharged 1.0L I-3 EcoBoost with outputs of either 100 or 125 PS, which are mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a new seven-speed dual clutch transmission. Transit Courier van and double-cab-in-van customers can also opt for the turbocharged 1.5L I-3 EcoBoost in a 100 PS variant, which is mated to a six-speed manual transmission, while the E-Transit Courier adds an all-electric option as well.
We’ll have more on the new E-Transit Courier soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for the latest Ford Transit news and ongoing Ford news coverage.

Farley … you sell this in Mexico. Offer this for US sales. And offer it in both a cargo van as well as a passenger/wagon variant. Offer in 2 variants, a XL an XLT to keep things simple, no off road version, no titanium version keep it simple. Keep the list of options to a minimum, trailer hitch (like Maverick) and a sound system w/nav-system. No leather, none of the tings that add up to thousands rather quickly. Toyota did this in the 70’s an 80’s and took over the small car market. Take the hint Farley, there are “us” who knows more about the car business and how to turn a profit … again take the hint.
I thoroughly agree with the above.
