Competitive Sales Comparison (USA)

The Transit (see running Ford Transit sales) in Q2 2024 continued its command of the full-size van space, with sales growing 28 percent to 38,864 units. Since its launch, Ford’s best-selling, 10-year-old van has remained in first place when ranked by sales volume in a segment comprised of passenger, cargo, and cutaway/chassis cab models.

The Ram ProMaster regained its second-place showing it had held for the past two-plus years, after slipping to fourth place the previous quarter, with a 24 percent slip in sales to 15,369 units. The Blue Oval’s second entry, the Ford E-Series (see running Ford E-Series sales), traded places to take third with a 13 percent bump to 9,828 units, followed by the Chevy Express (see running Chevy Express sales), now in fourth, with a two percent uptick to 9,410 units, and the GMC Savana (see running GMC Savana sales) in last place again with a 12 percent slide for 6,401 deliveries.

The Ford Authority Take

Ford Transit remains by far the sales leader in the full-size van segment, having always been at the top since it launched over 10 years ago, this time maintaining a comfortable lead for Q2 2024. Combining sales with those of the Ford E-Series gives The Blue Oval three-fifths of all sales, though crosstown rival GM actually came in second place – albeit a distant one – with the Chevy Express and GMC Savana. That relegates Ford’s other crosstown rival, the Ram ProMaster, to third place overall.

Even though the GM entries are old and dated, plans for a much-needed overhaul, for at least a potentially redesigned 2027 Chevy Express, may have been canceled by GM.

Meanwhile, Ford will seemingly just keep selling loads more of its Transit and E-Series models going forward.
