Ford Motor Company has filed a patent for a flexible notification system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, Ford Authority has learned.
The patent was filed on February 2nd, 2023, published on August 8th, 2024, and assigned serial number 0262192.
The Ford Authority Take
Modern vehicles are chock full of technology, much of which is used to keep tabs on various conditions or things like tire pressure, oil levels, and other important items. Regardless, Ford has filed several patents as of late that aim to keep us even more informed about what’s going on with our vehicles, including ideas for a tire pressure notification system and a lighting based notification system, to name just a couple. Now, this newly filed Ford patent presents us with yet another, similar idea, this time, for a flexible notification system that may be used in future Ford vehicles, too.
As Ford points out in this patent filing, current vehicles already display information such as blind spot detection in the side mirrors, and heads-up displays also show off pertinent info, too. However, there are times when these systems may be hard to see, depending on weather conditions or lighting. Thus, this system aims to eliminate that problem by making notification systems more flexible in the way they deliver information.
To do so, this system would be able to determine a user’s field of view, as well as weather conditions and potential glare from the sun or other lights. If the system determines that it’s difficult for a user to see important notifications, it would then display this information in another place – whether that be in something like the head-up display, or the infotainment screen. It’s an interesting and potentially useful idea, and one that may very well make its way into future Ford vehicles as a result.
