The Ford Authority Take

Ford has filed quite a few navigation and road trip-related patents as of late, a list that includes ideas such as a system capable of ranking routes based on complexity, an interactive navigation coaching system, and a navigation prediction vehicle assistant, to name just a few. Now, this newly published patent aims to potentially implement a special sort of navigation system for curvy roads in future Ford vehicles, too.

Driving on curvy and/or windy roads can often be a chore for those that aren’t necessarily interested in corner carving in a sports car, typically requiring that users constantly turn the wheel and apply the brakes. Throw in inclement weather, and this task can become more of a chore, especially when rain or snow makes it more difficult for driver-assist systems to see the roadway – meaning that in certain cases, they may not even function properly.

As such, Ford proposes this system, which would be capable of receiving weather and road information and use that to adjust vehicle speed accordingly, as well as determine an optimum rotation angle for each wheel. This could help make ADAS features more capable in inclement weather on curvy roads, which typically present them – and drivers – with issues, otherwise. It’s a relatively simple idea, but one that could very well make it to production given the rise in driver-assist features in recent years.

Now that’s funny. Every single Ford I’ve driven has one. It’s called a steering wheel. If you’re not up to it, get in the back seat.

Quite a few already have it but they’re not nearly as complicated as the schematics above. If it’s that complicated, no way I’d trust it.

Ford God’s Sake, F O R D can’t even Update the Blue Cruise on our 2022 F-150 To the Latest Software so it will STAY IN IT’S OWN LANE??? Now they are going to Navigate Winding Roads???? What a JOKE to say the Very Least!!!!! I’ve been asking “everyone” at Ford why they can’t Update our Truck’s Software, and here is there answer…….. You all sitting down, Mr. Bla Bla Bla, the “ONLY WAY” you can get the “latest Software” is to “Trade Your Truck In On A New Vehicle” with the Blue Cruise Feature Installed From the Factory”. FORD don’t have any other Information. So How are they going to complete a NEW Feature Like this GARBAGE here when they can’t even Navigate a Fairly Straight Road????
