2025 Ford Explorer ST Interior: Take A Deep Dive Into The New Cabin

Following its debut in early February, the 2025 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator entered production at the Chicago Assembly plant in May, and after the automaker’s quality checks were completed, both refreshed models began shipping to customers recently. Prior to that, Ford Authority was able to check out the luxurious 2025 Ford Explorer Platinum and the high-performance 2025 Ford Explorer ST up close and personal, giving us a detailed look at all of the changes present in those models.

Recently, we provided a comprehensive video tour of all of the exterior updates present on the 2025 Ford Explorer ST and the Platinum, and now, we’re back with a close look at the interior of the ST, specifically. This Agate Black 2025 Ford Explorer ST features a matching Onyx interior, coupled with ActiveX and Miko inserts, plus red stitching throughout.

The biggest change present in the cabin of the 2025 Explorer, in general, is that its entire dash/cockpit area has been redesigned with the addition of a new 13.2-inch display running the also-new Ford Digital Experience software. Along with new air vents, a revamped center stack, and a new dash design, the concept here is to add additional legroom up front. Soft materials were added to pretty much every common touch point in the cabin as well, giving it a more premium feel – coupled with some newly stylized hard trim pieces that add visual appeal as well.

Moving back to the dash, we can see a new B&O sound system “sound bar” spanning that part of the cabin. Otherwise, one will notice that there are no physical HVAC controls present in the center stack, as those have moved to the new infotainment screen, though there are still some physical controls located beneath the screen. Other than these updates, the cabin carries over mostly unchanged, save for a few interesting Easter eggs located in various places.

Why can’t they offer the interior in a color other than black on an ST? I don’t want Black and it keeps me from considering the purchase of the vehicle entirely between that and the fact that the exterior won’t paint the wheelwells explorer is out.

Great idea, my ST could be looking better with different colors, I don’t like black at all, like you.

I live in a rural area along a river resulting in many flying insects becoming embedded in the front of my 2020 Explorer ST during the summer. I cuss the designers every fall when I try to remove said bugs and wax all the nooks and crannies somebody thought looked stylish. The new model looks to have taken the concept even further (read worse!). At least the ass end only attracts dust and dirt.

Explorer ST interior review spent a lot of time mentioning the vertical lines on the trim but did not even mention the controls on the steering wheel. I think you should tr again!

Lots of cost cutting. Losing button controls.
Soft materials? What does that mean?
