Given the fact that there are millions of Ford vehicles populating our roadways, it’s not terribly surprising that many of them are involved in accidents on a daily basis, either. This is simply the nature of the beast, and no matter how good of a driver one thinks they are, there are plenty of others out there that, well, lack basic driving skills, let alone things like situational awareness. The latest display of this comes to us from Jacksonville, Florida, where a dash cam recently caught a Hyundai Santa Fe taking out a Ford Bronco Sport.
The person who posted this video – David Coffield – was traveling along I-295 in Jacksonville at around 70 mph when his dash cam caught this rather scary incident on film. The Santa Fe is in the left lane driving along, but suddenly begins to drift to the left – possibly because the driver isn’t paying attention, or any number of other reasons. Regardless, they move far enough over that the crossover strikes the end of a barrier, which causes catastrophic damage.
Hitting that immovable object at high speed on the driver’s side of the front end sends the Santa Fe careening over into the other lane, directly in front of the Ford Bronco Sport, which is just driving along minding its own business. The Hyundai spins all the way around and takes a second front end impact from the Bronco Sport, at which point both crossovers come to a rest on the side of the road, right next to the guard rail.
Luckily, Coffield isn’t involved in this scary incident, which takes place in a mere split second. Regardless, it’s clear that the Ford Bronco Sport driver had little if no time to react, meaning that even if one has their head on a swivel, things can go from normal to tragic in no time at all while driving down the road. In fact, we’ve seen this happen to another Bronco Sport when a Toyota Tundra recently smashed into it without warning, and even another one get totaled when a tree branch fell on the parked crossover.
