Lincoln Aviator Will Continue To Be Produced At Chicago

When Ford and the United Auto Workers (UAW) union reached an agreement on a new master contract last fall, it led to some pretty interesting revelations regarding the automaker’s future product roadmap. One of the most interesting was the fact that it seemed as if the Lincoln Aviator was facing discontinuation or replacement after production of that model at the Chicago Assembly plant was slated to end in 2028. However, that may no longer be the case.

According to a new report from Automotive News, FoMoCo was indeed planning on discontinuing production of the ICE Lincoln Aviator and replacing it with a three-row EV crossover. However, that plan has since changed, and the Lincoln Aviator will instead continue to be produced at the Chicago Assembly plant through at least the end of this decade, and it’s also slated to receive another update in 2027 following 2025’s mid-cycle refresh.

This report aligns with Ford’s recently revamped electrification plans, when the automaker revealed that it had indeed canceled plans to build a pair of three-row EV crossovers – which are believed to be all-electric versions of the Lincoln Aviator and the Ford Explorer, though that was never confirmed by Ford itself. Instead, those two EVs will be effectively replaced by a new pair of hybrids, according to the automaker, which is aiming to add at least one hybrid powertrain option to the entire ICE-focused Ford Blue lineup by 2030.

Even before those plans were announced, Lincoln President Dianne Craig revealed that the luxury brand had essentially ditched its plans to add a number of EVs to its lineup in the coming years, stating “we’re not going to make any grand declarations specific to where the brand is going with electrification until we really understand what our premium customers want.”

Ford has finally come to their senses ! People want Hybrids , not Electrics ! Also People don’t want autos made in China ! When Ford discontinued the Flex, they should see the Flexs running up & down the roads in America . I see Flexs everyday as the owners enjoy their autos carrying passengers, groceries , and cargo throughout America !!
