After months of anticipation and teasers, the 2025 Cup Series season has been revealed, and there are big changes in store for the NASCAR Ford teams – along with Chevy and Toyota.
The schedule was released on NASCAR.com, and it’s quite a bit different than the 2024 season and prior. The 38-race schedule brings the Cup Series to two historic exhibition tracks, plus 36 point-paying races. The annual preseason Clash will not be held at the LA Coliseum, but will take place at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 2nd, 2025, which marks the Cup Series’ first race on the quarter-mile oval since 1971. The Daytona 500 is scheduled for February 16th, while Circuit of the Americas has been moved up to March 2nd while Homestead-Miami Speedway has been moved to March 23rd, meaning it is no longer a Playoffs race.
Michigan International Speedway’s race has been bumped from late August to June 8th, preceding the Cup Series’ first venture to an international circuit on June 15th in Mexico City. That will be the first point-paying race outside the U.S. since 1958.
Other notable changes to the schedule include the summer Daytona race, which will be the final race before the Playoffs – an interesting decision given the unpredictable nature of superspeedway racing . New Hampshire Motor Speedway will make its first Playoffs appearance since 2017, but the final race of the season will still be held at Phoenix Raceway on November 2nd.
“It’s no secret we’ve been bullish about growing NASCAR beyond our borders, and the 2025 schedule is an important and thrilling first milestone in that journey,” said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR executive vice president, chief venue and racing innovation officer. “In addition to racing in Mexico, we’ve been able to bring back more historic and fan-favorite venues for the first time in decades across our national series. Not only will this combination of venues maintain the high levels of excitement and anticipation for NASCAR racing, but it also delivers one of the most diverse and challenging schedules anywhere in motorsports.”
