Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse, was a mere half lap away from sealing the deal at Richmond on August 11th, 2024 – that is, until he found himself in the crosshairs of Austin Dillon’s No. 3 Chevy Camaro ZL1. Dillon made contact with Logano, sending the Mustang into the wall before making contact with the No. 11 Toyota TRD Camry of Denny Hamlin and resigning him to a similar fate. While the move could be chalked up to tough racing, some curious in-car audio revealed that Dillon’s spotter instructed him to wreck Logano and Hamlin for the win.
Dillon delivered a shot to Logano’s rear bumper as they rounded the track, heading for the checkered flag. Dillon’s spotter, Brandon Benesch, shouted “Run him down! Wreck him!” just before the impact.
Understandably, Logano was upset after the race. “It’s chicken s—. There’s no doubt about it,” he said. “He’s four car-lengths back, not even close. Then he wrecks the 11 to go along with it. Then he’s gonna go up there and praise God and everything with his baby, it’s a bunch of B.S. It’s not even freaking close.”
He added, “I get it, bump and run. I get it. I didn’t back up the corner at all. He came in there and just drove through me. It’s ridiculous that that’s the way we race. Unbelievable.”
Interestingly, NASCAR elected to give Hamlin his second-place finishing position back after contact from Dillon sent him into the wall. Logano, meanwhile, was credited with 19th in the No. 22 NASCAR Ford. In fact, Dillon defended his move and all but admitted to purposefully wrecking Logano.
“I went into Turn 3 in fifth gear and drove in, tried to get [Logano] loose, and got him up the track,” Dillon said. “I got the car downshifted, and the car actually turned pretty good when I did that, and then when I was coming back left, [Hamlin] was coming and that was just kind of a reaction.”
If there are any resulting penalties, they are expected to be announced on Tuesday, August 13th.

The downward trend began last year.
The former Ford engineer is a fan of its upgrades.
Though not as much by younger generations.
It's currently unclear if Ford's EV plants will follow suit.
It's one of several models to do so.

If NASCAR doesn't step up and strip Dillon of the win, along with a heavy penalty, they're merely sending themselves straight into the world of the WWF.
Dillon did nothing different the Logano and Hamlin have done in the past. Look what Hamlin has done recently to Larson, racin is rubbin! Logano and Hamlin are whining cry babies!
You're the here always lying, whining and crying....case in point claiming Logano has in the past pulled a stunt like Dillon. What everyone witnessed was not " rubbin' is racing ". That was deliberate crashing other cars out
Logano has never junked a car to win on the last lap to win.
Joey never crashed anyone in the wall like this creep.
you and lame and cosworth are bigger cry babies than logano. logano knows he's done the exact same thing, that's why he said no more about it. Wyning idiots!
first of all the head line is wrong his spotter told him to wreck Hamlin and on every restart Joey logano just send s it in deep and uses whoever is on his out side to help him turn. This is the situation the NASCAR has put themselves in where a guy will do whatever to win a race and make it to the playoffs and also did anyone see that after the race Joey Logano nearly ran over Austin Dillon's family
the real controversy here is why Dillon's family was allowed on a hot track.
His family was in the pits when it happened
It dont matter what the spotter said...he was the driver....when it comes to racing for the win...they just wanting to throw spotter under the bus...to cover up mode....as far as penalty..Dillon knocked Ford driver at time Aric Amarilo on very last lap to win 2018 Daytona 500....so if Nascar would have a open door policy...anything goes...that fine....so they cant pick favorites like the do...Carl Edwards didnt take this bs...as Brad K...and that happen to Dillon...Karma..
