Upcoming Ford EV Platform Could Spawn Sedan

In a recent meeting with dealers, Ford revealed quite a few interesting future models that may or may not come to fruition. Those include a bevy of Ford Mustang variants – including a sedan and off-road-focused version of the iconic pony car – as well as a small van that’s slated to be based on the Ford Maverick. However, those same dealers were also given some tantalizing details pertaining to a potential future Ford EV model, too.

Blue Oval executives discussed the forthcoming, low-cost Ford EV platform that’s been in development for a couple of years now and is slated to underpin a variety of future all-electric models – including, as Ford Authority previously reported, a crossover, compact pickup, and dedicated rideshare vehicle. However, at this meeting, dealers were also shown a variety of renderings that included not only those aforementioned variants, but also, a sedan, according to Automotive News.

It is worth noting that dealers who attended the meeting revealed that these renderings were intended to show what’s possible with the new low-cost Ford EV platform, and didn’t necessarily represent actual products that will be put into production. Rather, it seemed as if the automaker was trying to demonstrate that it has a plan for future entry-level products other than the Maverick, which can compete with cheap Chinese models.

What we do know for sure is that the low-cost Ford EV platform is set to make its debut via the aforementioned crossover in late 2026 with a price tag of around $30k, and it may be built at the Louisville Assembly plant. As far as the possibility that Ford may once again sell sedans – aside from the potential four-door Mustang – that idea has been bounced around a bit as of late, with rumors indicating that this revival could include a Ford Fiesta EV in Europe.

We’ll have more on these future Ford EV models soon, so be sure and subscribe to Ford Authority for continuous Ford news coverage.

Who does Ford think cares? Because no one other than they do.

I still have to see a positive comment from you on any Ford news published on this site.
Kind of tiring to read your disparaging comments on everything about Ford.

Yes, bring it back with a large battery and a stronger electric motor. I have a 2014 Fudion Hybrid and I will only trafe it in for a medium sized electric sedan.

Besides the Mustang, I stopped buying Ford the date they cancelled producing sedans. If they produce sedans, I will consider Ford again. Not before. Naturally, thanks to Farley, when buying a car I will compare Ford with other brands I´ve been driving that still produce sedans.

We gotta wait two more years for a cheap EV? I wonder if BYD can build a Mexican factory faster than that.
