Where The NASCAR Ford Teams Sit In Power Rankings Post-Michigan

Hopes were high for the NASCAR Ford drivers heading into the Cup Series race at Michigan, but the checkered flag didn’t quite fall in favor of The Blue Oval on Monday when the rain-postponed race reached its conclusion. That means there was some movement for the Ford Mustang racers in this week’s Power Rankings heading to Daytona.

Out of 20 drivers listed in the latest Power Rankings from NASCAR.com, Austin Cindric’s No. 2 Mustang is ranked 19th, having suffered a crash at Michigan, but he’s saved by his consistent top-20 finishes until then. Chase Briscoe, driver of the No. 14 Mustang, slots in 18th place, down one spot after being involved in a crash at Michigan. Joey Logano is the next-best NASCAR Ford driver in 16th after his No. 22 Mustang suffered a flat tire last weekend.

Chris Buescher gained one spot and now sits in 13th. He rallied back to a sixth-place finish at Michigan after being involved in a crash, and he always does well at Daytona, which helps his case. Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 6 Mustang, stays solidly in eighth after earning his first top five in five races. Finally, the only other NASCAR Ford driver to land a spot on this week’s list is Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 12 Mustang. He’s currently fifth after a crash that put him out of contention in Michigan.

Looking ahead, Blaney has crashed out of his last two runs at Daytona, but he’s led in the last five, meaning he could be one to keep an eye on this weekend as the regular season draws to a close.

Daytona is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 24th, 2024. It is the penultimate regular season race, meaning the 2024 Playoffs grid will be decided after Darlington the following weekend.
