1991 Ford Taurus ‘Tamaro’ Once Again Up For Sale

Back in August 2023, Ford Authority spotted a rather unusual build for sale, one that’s based on a 1991 Ford Taurus, and yet, looks more like a Chevy Camaro. Known as the “Tamaro,” this interesting machine was pieced together around a decade ago, and currently has a whopping 283,000 miles on the clock – many of which the seller has accumulated since they purchased the car back in 2001. However, no one apparently jumped on the opportunity to buy this strange machine at that time.

Now, this somewhat famous 1991 Ford Taurus and Chevy Camaro mashup is up for sale yet again via Facebook Marketplace, as first discovered by The Autopian. This time, the Tamaro is up for grabs at a vastly reduced price of $1,997 (if that’s indeed accurate) – quite a bit cheaper than the previous ask of $4,999 – and it reportedly runs and drives perfectly strong, even though it has a ton of miles on the replacement 3.0L V6 Vulcan engine. It even has good brakes and tires, to boot.

Of course, most will notice the car’s unusual looks, which stem from its front end, headlights, grille, and bumpers that were taken from a Chevy Camaro, along with a rear spoiler from a Dodge Charger SRT8. As if that combination isn’t strange enough, the sedan also features a custom Rolls Royce-style interior with loads of wood and black suede, along with an aftermarket stereo system to boot.

The seller isn’t including that stereo system in the sale this time, which likely helped reduce the price a lot, but the Tamaro has also racked up its fair share of wear and tear by now, too. The seller admits that the paint “isn’t great,” and notes that there’s a lot of wear showing inside the cabin as well. However, we have a hard time believing that someone won’t jump at the chance to buy this strange machine for such little money, if for no other reason than to make some YouTube videos about it.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

Back in 1990 I saw a first-gen Mustang in Santo Domingo that had a ’77 Camaro grille, headlights, and bumpers grafted onto it. The paint was perfect: it looked like a factory job. I know Dominicans do good body and mechanical work, but my question was, why?
