For many years, the Ford Escort was a familiar sight not only on U.S. roads, but also, across Europe and other parts of the world. In North America, the Escort took over for the Pinto and never looked back, selling millions of units between the 1981 and 2003 model years and ranking as the best-selling car in the U.S. many times over. Now that it’s been gone for more than two decades, we’re starting to see more and more nice Ford Escort models surface for sale, and that includes this 1998 SE wagon.
This 1998 Ford Escort SE wagon is up for auction at Bring a Trailer right now, though it’s actually a Canadian-market example with 96k kilometers (around 59k miles) on the clock. It’s being sold by a dealer in Canada and is registered in British Columbia, which could complicate matters somewhat for buyers in the U.S., but the Silver Frost Metallic wagon remains in stellar condition, regardless.
There are no noted flaws on the outside of this Ford Escort, nor inside, where one will find Medium Graphite cloth seats, air conditioning, an AM/FM/cassette stereo with premium speakers, and crank windows. Power comes from Ford’s naturally-aspirated 2.0L inline-four cylinder engine, which was factory rated to produce 110 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a four-speed automatic gearbox.
Along with this pristine Canadian Ford Escort, there have been several other nice examples we’ve spotted at auction in recent months. That list includes a 1994 LX with 25k miles, a 1999 LX with a mere 16k miles, and a basically brand new 1993 LX wagon that crossed the block with a stunningly-low 400 miles showing on the odometer, too.
