While pretty much all Panther platform cars are highly sought after on the collector car market these days, one could make the argument that none are quite as collectible as the Mercury Marauder. The high-performance sedan does pop up for sale quite frequently, in spite of its relatively rarity, and remains a fan favorite, regardless. Now, yet another nice, low-mile Mercury Marauder has surfaced for sale, giving fans of big, V8-powered American sedans another solid target to bid on.
This 2003 Mercury Marauder is currently up for auction at Bring a Trailer, and it has a relatively low 49k miles showing on the odometer – a small sum for a vehicle of this vintage, though we’ve obviously seen lower. One of just 11,000 built in total, it’s finished in an attractive shade dubbed Dark Blue Pearl, making it one of just 330 to sport that particular exterior color. It’s also mostly bone stock on the outside – save for some newer Nitto Motivo tires – and in excellent condition.
The same is true of the Dark Charcoal leather interior, which shows the typical creasing that we tend to see, but otherwise, remains in excellent condition. There are plenty of unique touches and nice amenities as well, including the factory AutoMeter white-face gauges, heated power-adjustable front bucket seats, the Audiophile sound system, cruise control, power-adjustable pedals, and automatic climate control. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 4.6L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 302 horsepower and 318 pound-feet of torque.
This is just one of several Mercury Marauder models we’ve seen hit the auction block as of late, though none were painted in this same rare color. Regardless, that list most recently includes a 2003 model that was reviewed by Doug DeMuro, another 2003 with 33k miles, and a 2004 with just 3k miles.

Wonderful looking car. I wish I have one.
Less than 50K miles? did the odometer go over once?
You do realize the car has a 6-digit odometer, right?
