When most think of special pony car models, they envision something like the Ford Mustang GT350 or GT500, high-performance variants that have existed through multiple generations. However, the Ford Mustang Shelby GT was also offered for some time – not by The Blue Oval itself, but rather, via Shelby American as a special package on its own. We’ve seen a few nice Ford Mustang Shelby GT models surface for sale over the years – including a very cool supercharged prototype – and now, another has popped up at auction.
This 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT coupe – which is currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer – is number 5,347 of roughly 5,800 examples built in that model year, and it has just 11k miles showing on the odometer. Other than a small dent and a paint chip, its Ebony Black paint remains in stellar condition as a result, which covers a body that features unique features including a revised hood, new front and rear fascias, Shelby badging, a billet grille insert, hood pins, and side scoops, plus black 18-inch wheels with polished lips.
Inside the cabin, one will find Dark Charcoal leather seats with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a Hurst short-throw shifter, Shelby GT-branded sill plates, keyless entry, air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and locks, aftermarket gauges, and an AM/FM/CD stereo, plus a dash plaque noting that this particular Shelby GT is CSM number 07SGT5347.
Performance-wise, this 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT utilizes an enhanced version of the naturally-aspirated 4.6L V8 from the regular pony car. That mill is fitted with the Ford Racing Power Pack, which adds a 90mm air intake, Pro-Cal engine-management software, a strut tower brace, and a high-flow exhaust system with an X-pipe and Ford Racing mufflers. Output originally came in at 319 horsepower and 330 pound-feet of torque, which flows to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip rear differential with 3.55 gears. Throw in Ford Performance springs, dampers, front and rear sway bars, plus four-wheel disc brakes, and this Shelby GT is a nicely well-rounded – and well-kept – pony car.
