Since its debut, the all-new S650 generation 2024 Ford Mustang has gained a plethora of aftermarket parts and accessories for owners to choose from, coupled with an array of goods from The Blue Oval itself. This has long been the case with the legendary pony car, and in many instances, both third-party companies and The Blue Oval itself offer track-focused upgrades for weekend warriors as well. That’s once again the case with this new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse steering wheel kit, which was just added to the Ford Performance catalog.
The new 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse steering wheel kit is listed in the Ford Performance catalog under part number M-3600-M, and it retails for $540. As one might have gathered from the name, this kit consists of the heated steering wheel that’s present in the 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse, but it’s intended to be installed in either EcoBoost or GT pony cars from the S650 generation, for those that like the look and feel of this particular part. The Dark Horse steering wheel kit fits all of those models – including in both left- and right-hand drive configuration, and with either manual or automatic transmissions, too.
The Dark Horse steering wheel is a leather-wrapped, flat-bottomed piece with a Performance Suede insert and Indigo Blue stitching. The kit itself also includes paddle shifters and the new steering wheel attachment bolt needed to complete the installation in non-DH models, though as Ford points out there, the heated steering wheel function only works in vehicles that came with that feature from the factory. If installed in a Mustang that didn’t come with the heated steering wheel, this function simply won’t work.

Additionally, the paddle shifters only work in vehicles equipped with the 10-speed automatic transmission and OEM paddle shifters, and won’t function properly on models that don’t, or those that are equipped with a manual gearbox. The 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse steering wheel kit is equipped with an automatic transmission wiring harness that includes automatic transmission paddle shifter wiring, but it does not include switches, the air bag module, or hardware – these parts must be transferred from the original steering wheel or purchased from a dealer.

I’d pony-up to that, if it would fit Super Duty F250-350 as well. Running manual mode on the 10 speed would be so much better/easier with paddle shifters!
