Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Ford offered what it called the Free Wheeling package on vehicles including the F-100, Ford F-150, Ford Bronco, Econoline van, Courier, and even the Pinto, all of which typically added distinctive stripes in various colors to those models, coupled with other special touches. Today, those models are quite rare and very collectible, and the Free Wheeling treatment has since made a bit of a comeback – both on a Ford Bronco Sport that appeared at the 2023 SEMA Show, followed by a special version of the crossover for 2024. However, it now seems as if the 2025 Ford Bronco lineup might also add a Free Wheeling variant of its own.
As Ford Authority reported earlier today, The Blue Oval has launched a new Free Wheeling Collection that consists of 10 different retro-themed products. That list includes a pair of t-shirts, patches, an insulated vest, a bomber jacket, a knit hat, two regular hats, a keychain, and a water bottle, all of which are sporting the familiar bright stripes that The Blue Oval has applied to a variety of models – including the Ford Bronco – over the years. However, the email it sent out informing customers of this launch contained a pretty nifty teaser.
That teaser depicts what is most certainly a Ford Bronco equipped with some unique features – including the colorful stripes present on other Free Wheeling models, which features Bronco script in the very bottom stripe. This particular teaser shows off a brand new wheel design that isn’t currently available on any Bronco model as well, which has a red line around the multi-spoke center which is quite unique.
While it’s not a 100 percent certainty that we are looking at what might be the 2025 Ford Bronco Free Wheeling, there are several reasons why that might be the case, aside from the presence of these unique features. For starters, the wheels in this teaser are wrapped with the same 315/70 Goodyear Territory tires that are included in the optional Sasquatch Package (in R/T, or rugged terrain spec here), and the fender flares are obviously unmistakable – though here, they look slightly more rounded. Finally, these wheels are not present on the Bronco Sport Free Wheeling, so we know we aren’t looking at that model. Thus, it’ll be interesting to see if this is indeed our very first look at what might be the 2025 Ford Bronco Free Wheeling.

The 1979 F Series had that paint option as did the 79 Bronco. That’s 45 years ago!!
