Following its debut in early February, the 2025 Ford Explorer entered production at the Chicago Assembly plant in May, but due to the automaker’s various quality checks, the refreshed model just began hitting dealer lots early last month. However, the revised 2025 Ford Explorer won’t just be sold in the U.S., as it’s also now heading to Mexico, albeit in slightly more limited trims when compared to its American counterpart
In Mexico, the 2025 Ford Explorer will be sold in the Active, Platinum (which Ford filed a patent for in Mexico this past January,) and ST trims, each with its own unique exterior styling elements that include a black grill with chrome bars for the Active, satin details on the Platinum, and a sporty black honeycomb grille for the ST. Each model also gets its own unique wheel options, while the ST sports black headlight bezels as well. In terms of exterior color options, customers can choose from one of six – Nebula Blue, Carbon Gray, Metallic White, Cherry Red, Silver, and Obsidian Black.
Inside the cabin, the Mexican 2025 Ford Explorer gets the same updates as its counterpart to the north, including the new 13.2-inch infotainment screen running the also-new Ford Digital Experience software, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Platinum and ST trims get the Active Motion massaging seats as well, which offer up memory functions, plus 10-position power adjustment for the driver and eight for the passenger, along with heating and ventilation.
In terms of powertrains, the 2025 Ford Explorer Active is equipped with the turbocharged 2.3L I-4 EcoBoost, which generates 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque, while the Platinum and ST are powered by the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 EcoBoost making 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet, each mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2025 Ford Explorer is available in Mexico now, with a starting MSRP of 1,180,000 pesos ($58,856 USD).
