Coming off a full-blown redesign for the 2023 model year, the Ford Super Duty hasn’t missed a beat, as the heavy-duty hauler continues to rack up accolades for everything from initial quality to just being an appealing product. Ford Super Duty production continues to struggle to meet demand as well, which also may have something to do with Ford’s decision to expand it to a third facility – the Oakville Assembly plant in Canada. Regardless, time moves on in this hotly contested space, and as such, the 2025 Ford Super Duty has received a handful of updates for the new model year.
As Ford Authority reported earlier today, the 2025 Ford Super Duty Platinum has been treated to a refresh of sorts with updated styling inside and out. The Blue Oval has also added the new Platinum Plus trim that includes even more special touches – and is coupled with a special ownership experience, to boot. As for the rest of the 2025 Ford Super Duty lineup, the automaker has made some changes in terms of its standard powerplant options, too.
For 2025, the gas 6.8L V8 is now standard equipment on the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, while the gas 7.3L V8 is standard on the King Ranch and Platinum. In the 2024 model year, the 6.8L V8 was standard on the F-250 and F-350 XL – while the F-450 got the regular output 6.7L V8 Power Stroke diesel as standard. The XLT and Lariat were previously equipped with the 7.3L V8 as standard in all configurations save for the F-450, which also got the diesel.
As for the more luxurious trims, the King Ranch and Platinum were both equipped with the gas 7.3L V8 as standard for the 2024 model year – again, save for the F-450, which came with the 6.7L Power Stroke. Regardless, the diesel remains an option across all trims, which is also the case with the high-output version of that same powerplant. Regardless of powertrain, all 2025 Ford Super Duty models still come standard with the 10-speed automatic transmission, too.

Excellent!
I love to see that simple pushrod engine in the F 150 as a option..
Is the 6.8L V8 equipped with Port injection and DFI both? Or just one of the other?
Thanks
We all know that ford can’t build an engine that will hold up. My concern is the 10 speed trans .
There are millions of them in use failing and ford has there head in a brown spot. How about fixing all your f u ps before going forward !
LOVE MY SILVERADO !
Ford’s F250 is great in the engine. It’s that 10 speed transmission! I swapped in 2024 to Chevy 2500 6.6 L with the Allison Trans. Smoother ride and shifting than the F250 with 7.3 Godzilla, which is fine engine. I just couldn’t take the hard shifts and Fird never fixing after 3 attempts. 3 strikes and I was gone.
