Back in February, Tyler Hoover of the YouTube channel Hoovie’s Garage purchased a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 that had a rather high 210,000 miles on the clock at the time. Because of that, he only had to shell out $14,000 for the supercharged pony car, and it even managed to put down more power in the dyno than it was rated to produce from the factory. The Shelby GT500 has since changed hands, but now, it’s up for sale yet again.
As Hoover usually does, he took his Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to David Long – owner of Omega Auto Clinic and purveyor of the Car Wizard YouTube channel – for a once-over shortly after he purchased it. Upon closer inspection, Long found a few minor issues with this high-mileage Mustang, such as a loose supercharger belt, worn out air filters, struts that need to be replaced, and a check engine light indicating an issue with an EVAP system leak.
This past April, Hoover decided to sell his high-mileage Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 to Long, who wound up fixing all of these issues, as well as giving it a new McLeod double disc clutch, slave cylinder throwout bearing, flywheel, and pilot bearing, along with an array of replacement suspension parts including the lower control arms, sway bar links, and trailing arms.
Now, with 211k miles on the clock and ready to rack up many more, Long is ready to part ways with his revived pony car, albeit with a higher price tag of $25,000 – though in all fairness, he has sunk a decent amount of money in the car getting it in tip top shape. Long notes that the car runs and drives like a brand new example now, so that asking price is still pretty reasonable – even though it’s easily one of the highest-mileage S197 Shelby GT500s out there.
Hopefully, it can be fixed and turned out.
Plus, financing and local market lease deals on the off-road SUV.
They're concerned about rising prices and job protection.
A stellar example of a special machine.
In both V6 and V8 versions, with up to 900 horsepower.
Making that process much easier.
