Though the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 has existed through multiple generations of the iconic pony car, each one is special in its own right. Each of those GT500 models also has plenty of performance to offer, regardless of age, not to mention collectibility. In fact, many have purchased new examples of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 over the years and simply stashed them away, driving them few or no miles whatsoever – and that’s certainly the case with this 2008 model.
This 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 is up for auction at Bring a Trailer with a mere 922 miles on the odometer, and is in stellar condition as a result. After living with just two owners through its life thus far, this GT500 is now seeking a third, and it looks set to change hands given the lack of a reserve price. That lucky person will be getting a nearly flawless example, as there are no blemishes marring its Performance White paint, which is adorned with blue stripes.
The Dark Charcoal leather interior remains in excellent condition as well, and features amenities including air conditioning, cruise control, ambient lighting, and the Shaker 500 audio system linked to a factory AM/FM stereo with a six-disc CD changer. Power comes from the supercharged 5.4L V8, which in this guise was factory-rated to produce 500 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque, flowing to the rear wheels via the six-speed Tremec TR-6060 manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
This certainly isn’t the only nice, low-mile S197 generation Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 model we’ve seen hit the auction block as of late, because that list is, well, rather long. However, a very unique example just surfaced for sale recently with a whopping 211,000 miles on the odometer, which may make it the highest-mile S197 GT500 out there, though it has been completely sorted by a reputable mechanic and is reportedly in great driving condition.
