Australian 2025 Ford Ranger Lineup Regains Crucial Feature

The Ford Ranger is a decidedly American product, but on the same token, it’s also a truly global model that enjoys tremendous success pretty much everywhere it’s sold – including Australia. There, the latest version of the Ford Ranger has been on sale for quite some time, months before it launched in the U.S., though the Aussie version of the mid-size pickup has long lacked something that the American version already has – at least, until the arrival of the 2025 Ford Ranger down under.

According to CarExpert, that feature is onboard power outlets, which have yet to be present in the Australian version of the Ford Ranger that debuted there in mid-2022. The reason for this omission, it seems, is that the prior version’s 230V 150W outlet didn’t meet Aussie standards, prompting Ford to remove it altogether. This also resulted in the removal of the onboard 400W power inverter in the bed, as there’s only a 12V socket available on XLT and above. However, the power outlet is now set to make its return in the 2025 Ford Ranger, starting with November production, with deliveries slated to begin early next year.

“We can confirm that as of 2025.25 MY Ranger, the 400W power inverter will be added as standard to Ranger XLS, XLT, Sport, Wildtrak, Platinum, and Raptor models, with a socket available on the interior console and, on pickup models, in the tray,” a Ford spokesperson said. “This will replace the existing 12V socket in the tray, however, one 12V socket will remain within the vehicle.”

These power outlets have been available in the North American version of the Ford Ranger since its launch, and we imagine that its return to the lineup in Australia will only help the mid-sizer’s popularity in that market. In fact, the Ranger recently surpassed the Toyota Hilux in terms of sales there, and Ford continues to expand its lineup with the recent addition of the off-road-focused Tremor.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

I hardly think the ranger is uniquely American considering the design team for this current series was Australia and South Africa. North America waited a whole year or two for a American version
