Joey Logano was the last NASCAR Ford Cup Series driver to win at Watkins Glen way back in 2015, when he brought his No. 22 Ford Mustang Dark Horse to Victory Lane at the tough road course. That doesn’t mean that sports betting enthusiasts shouldn’t put money on The Blue Oval, though – despite the fact that some Mustang racers don’t have the best odds.
As with past weeks, according to the latest betting odds on NASCAR.com, Harrison Burton has the worst odds in the field to bring the No. 21 Mustang to victory at 300-1 (but, of course, he didn’t have great odds for Daytona and he went out and won that one). He’s right on par with Josh Berry, driver of the No. 4 Mustang, who also has 300-1 odds, while Ryan Preece has a marginally better chance with 250-1 odds.
Justin Haley’s No. 51 Mustang could win at the Glen with 130-1 odds, although Noah Gragson might be a safer bet, as his No. 10 Mustang has 110-1 odds of winning. Brad Keselowski has been pretty consistent all year, but his No. 6 NASCAR Ford isn’t always great at road courses, evidenced by his 100-1 odds of winning – the same as Todd Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 Mustang. Chase Briscoe’s odds of 80-1 make him a longshot, but he could still pull off a win in the No. 14 Mustang.
Ryan Blaney, defending series champion, is a decent road course racer, and his No. 12 Mustang is favored at 45-1 odds to win on Sunday. Logano could bring his No. 22 Mustang back to Victory Lane nine years after his last Watkins Glen win with 40-1 odds, although Austin Cindric’s No. 2 Mustang may be a slightly better bet with 35-1 odds of winning.
Chris Buescher’s No. 17 Mustang is also a decent bet with 28-1 odds of winning on Sunday. However, the best odds in The Blue Oval’s stable go to Michael McDowell, who has a 12-1 shot of winning in the No. 34 Mustang. But if you’re not willing to take a risk on a Mustang, take a look at the Chevys of Van Gisbergen (7-1), William Byron (13-2), or Kyle Larson (6-1).
The Cup Series race at Watkins Glen is scheduled for September 15th, 2024.
