Ford the most part, few would call the Ford Tempo or Mercury Topaz collectible vehicles or future classics, which is understandable given the fact that both served as economical modes of basic transportation during their heyday, and neither was produced in what anyone would consider limited quantities, save for some exceptions. However, we have seen a few nice, low-mile examples of these models surface for sale at auction as of late and generate solid interest – including a couple of rare ones. This 1992 Mercury Topaz GS might just be the nicest of the bunch, too.
Currently up for grabs at Bring a Trailer, this 1992 Mercury Topaz GS has at least traveled far enough that its odometer has rolled over, but one would be hard-pressed to tell, given how incredibly nice it is. There has been a bit of paintwork done to its original Titanium Frost Clearcoat-covered surface, but otherwise, the coupe is in excellent condition with features including Topaz XR5-specification front spoiler with fog lights and cast aluminum 15-inch wheels.
The interior is equally immaculate and finished in Crystal Blue cloth upholstery with a color-coordinated dashboard, carpeting, and door panels, plus amenities such as air conditioning, cruise control, automatic front shoulder belts, power door locks, and a factory AM/FM/cassette stereo. Power comes from the naturally-aspirated Ford 3.0L V6 with sequential multi-port fuel injection, which was factory rated to produce 140 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a three-speed automatic transmission.
In addition to this ultra-nice and supremely well-kept Mercury Topaz, we’ve seen just a couple of others surface for sale at collector car auctions over the past few years. That includes a very rare 1992 Mercury Topaz XR5 that came up for grabs back in 2021 as one of just 464 produced, as well as a very nice 1994 Mercury Topaz GS back in October 2023 that had 69k miles on the clock.

Who buys a car with power door locks and manual windows?
Anyone who buys a car were power windows weren’t available, but power door locks were. Thanks for playing.

I think you need a hug. Some kind of therapy to help with the cynicism and sarcasm.
