Fresh off securing four consecutive X-Cross class wins, Ford is aiming to keep that streak going at the all-female 2024 Rebelle Rally off-road race, which the automaker has officially partnered with. The Blue Oval aims to do that with an ever-expanding field of vehicles that includes the Ford Bronco Sport, as well as the Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Raptor, each of which has enjoyed its fair share of success in recent Rebelle Rally outings. Now, fresh off announcing two teams that will tackle this grueling event, Ford has announced that it will have a grand total of five officially sponsored teams vying for victory this time around, plus a couple of new and updated models, to boot.
As Ford Authority previously reported, multi-time Rebelle Rally veteran Shelby Hall will compete with navigator Rori Lewis in a Bronco Raptor this year, while Laura Wanlass and Penny Dale will be behind the wheel of a second Bronco Raptor competing in the 4×4 Class. They’ll be joined by Bailey Campbell and navigator Sedona Blinson in a 2024 Ford Ranger Raptor, Melissa Clark and Kathryn Reinhardt in a 2025 Bronco Sport Sasquatch, and Karisa Haydon and Trista Smith, who will be competing in a 2022 Ford Bronco Wildtrack. Notably, Campbell was the first female driver to ever finish in the top five at the King of the Hammers, while Clark and Moore will return in an attempt to secure their fifth straight X-Cross victory – this time, in a Bronco Sport with the all-new Sasquatch Package.
The eight-day, 1,500-mile 2024 Rebelle Rally is set to kick off on Wednesday, October 9th and end on Saturday, October 19th, spanning portions of the Nevada and California desert. Participants aren’t just tasked with beating each other via pure speed, however, as there’s a lot of brainwork involved – in fact, racers can’t use GPS or cell phones to find their way across the desert, and must instead rely on maps, compasses, and road books only.
Ford’s group of teams has a solid reputation to uphold given its success over the past few years, which resulted in a third X-Cross victory in 2022 and a fourth in 2023. Hall secured only a sixth-place finish in 2022 behind the wheel of a Bronco Wildtrak, however, but improved last year in the No. 150 Desert Roots Bronco Raptor, in which Hall and Lewis both finished inside the top-five, along with Wanlass and Maria Guitar, who piloted another Bronco Raptor.
