Ford EV Rival Rivian Launches Its Own Referral Program

Referral programs and incentives have existed in the automotive space for some time now, with each focused around one goal – attracting new customers to a specific automotive brand. In the all-electric realm, Tesla began offering an owner referral program long ago, which helped it do precisely that on a rather significant scale. Now, another Ford EV rival – Rivian – has launched a referral program of its own, too.

The new program – called Rivian Rewards – is available to all of the company’s U.S.-based customers, who now have a referral code they can give to shoppers interested in purchasing a Rivian EV of their own. Those customers can enter the referral code when they are completing the checkout process on either an R1S or R1T, and when they take delivery, both they and the person that referred them will receive rewards.

Those rewards consist of 750 points that can be redeemed in Rivian’s Gear Shop or R1 Shop (each point equals a one dollar credit), as well as six months of free charging at Rivian Adventure Network sites, up to a lifetime limit of three years. Points expire after two years, but there’s no limit to how many times a referral code can be used by others, nor is there a cap on how many total points one can earn – though there is a lifetime limit on how much no-cost Rivian Adventure Network charging users can accumulate of three years.

This new program expands upon some other recent incentives from Rivian, including one targeted specifically at the owners of select Ford pickups and SUVs. Of course, Ford has long been known to offer its own conquest-style incentives, as well as its own EV owner referral program, which was just extended to the fall.
