Ford Expedition Max Wins 2024 Best CPO Value In Canada Award

Certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles have become incredibly popular in recent years, particularly as production issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic made finding a new car rather difficult for a long time. CPO models offer up the next best thing in many regards, as they’ve been thoroughly vetted by dealers to ensure that they’re gently used, giving one extra peace of mind compared to purchasing a regular old used vehicle. Thus, it’s notable that the Ford Expedition Max has been highlighted as a solid CPO target.

Last year, the regular-length Ford Expedition topped the full-size SUV segment in Vincentric’s 2024 Best CPO Value in America Awards, and now, the extended-length Max has also done precisely that same thing in the 2024 Best CPO Value in Canada Awards. The Ford Expedition Max achieved that by beating six of its competitors with the lowest maintenance costs in its class, as well as ownership costs that were 7.5 percent below expected levels. Thus, it joins a pair of other Blue Oval CPO award winners in the Ford Fusion, which ranked first among mid-size sedans, and the Ford Edge, which was the top choice among mid-size SUVs.

Vincentric derives this data from its annual cost of ownership analysis, which stems from eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. From there, Vincentric plugs its data into a statistical model to determine which models have lower than expected ownership costs when taking into account segment and price, and in this case, every vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces of Canada, plus the Northwest Territories, using a range of insurance profiles and an annual driving distance of 20,000 kilometers (12,427 miles). Interestingly, this year’s study featured quite a few new faces, too.

“For the third year in a row, we’ve seen a trend of a majority of Best CPO Value in Canada award winners being first-time winners in their segments,” said David Wurster, Vincentric President. “This year saw fourteen first-time winners out of a total of twenty-five vehicle segments. This trend goes to show that Canadian shoppers who are in the market for a CPO vehicle have a wide variety of great-value models to choose from. For shoppers who may be overwhelmed by the decision, the Vincentric Best CPO Value in Canada awards can provide guidance and empower them to shop with confidence.”
