For the most part, almost every Ford and Lincoln model experienced a production slowdown of some degree in the month of July 2024, which isn’t terribly surprising. In fact, July is not only home to the Independence Day holiday, but it’s also the same month that Ford tends to implement summer shutdowns at some of its plants. The Ford Expedition experienced its own slowdown last month, but the big SUV managed to bounce back in August, regardless.
As Ford Authority previously reported, production of the Ford Expedition at the Kentucky Truck plant declined from 6,876 units in June to 4,747 in July, which was a decrease of 2,129 units, or around 31 percent. According to the automaker’s August sales report, Expedition production last month came in at 8,719 units, however, which is a month-over-month increase of 3,972 units, or nearly 84 percent.
This result continues what has been a rather uneven calendar year of production for the Ford Expedition, which saw a 43.6 percent increase in January versus December, followed by gains of 1.8 percent in February and three percent in March, an eight percent drop in April, another three percent decline in May, and a 22 percent nose dive in June.
As for the future of the Ford Expedition, it’s slated to receive a refresh for the 2025 model year following the last mid-cycle action in 2022, one that will bring about a host of updates for the large SUV. Those include a revamped front end design that’s quite similar to the refreshed 2024 Ford F-150, as well as a possible split liftgate, a set of 24-inch wheels, a new taillight design, and a rear wiper that’s relocating from the bottom of the rear window to the top. Inside the cabin, the 2025 Ford Expedition is also getting some updates in the form of a revised design, a new infotainment screen, and even a coast-to-coast screen setup.
