Ford Explorer EV Launches In Norway

Following its debut in March 2023, mass production of the all-new Ford Explorer EV at the Cologne Electric Vehicle Center in Germany officially began back in June. The all-electric crossover is destined for a variety of European countries, where it will be sold alongside the  recently-revealed Capri, a sportier version of the Explorer EV. Now, the Ford Explorer EV has another country to add to that list, as it has officially arrived in Norway.

The very first Ford Explorer EV customer in electric vehicle-friendly Norway just took delivery of their shiny new model, though FoMoCo notes that hundreds of others will follow in the coming weeks. This news comes just a few days after the new Explorer EV was awarded a perfect five-star Euro NCAP safety rating, too.

The Ford Explorer EV is available with one of two powertrain configurations – a single motor rear-wheel drive or dual motor all-wheel drive setup, both of which utilize a lithium-ion nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, though a single motor RWD option with a standard-range NMC battery will be available at some point in the future. Battery capacity comes in at 77 kWh for the single-motor variant, or 79 kWh for the dual-motor crossover. The single motor variant is rated to return up to 602 kilometers (374 miles) of range based on the European WLTP cycle, while the dual motor is rated at 566 kilometers (352 miles).

In terms of power, the single motor churns out 210 kW (282 horsepower ) and 545 nM (402 pound-feet) of torque, while the dual-motor configuration is rated to produce 250 kW (335 horsepower) and 679 nM (501 pound-feet) of torque. According to Ford, the single-motor Explorer EV can go from 0-100 kilometers-per-hour (62 miles-per-hour) in 6.4 seconds, while the dual-motor takes 5.3 seconds to reach that mark, and both models top out at 180 kilometers-per-hour (112 mph).

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
