As Ford Authority reported last December, the Ford F-150 Lightning recently received a 2024 Best CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) Value in America Award from Vincentric after topping the full-size half-ton pickup segment and outperforming six rivals by presenting owners with ownership costs that were 13.8 percent below expected levels, along with the best economy, lowest operating costs, and lowest maintenance costs in its class. Now, that same organization has released its 2024 Best CPO Value in Canada Awards, and the Ford F-150 Lightning has once again made an appearance.
As was the case in the U.S., the Ford F-150 Lightning also topped Canada’s list of the best CPO value in terms of the full-size half-ton pickup segment. The EV model managed to accomplish that by outperforming six competitors and posting the lowest fuel costs, maintenance costs, and total cost of ownership, plus ownership costs that were 33.2 percent lower than expected levels. In doing so, the F-150 Lightning joins a bevy of other Blue Oval models, including the the Ford Fusion, which ranked first among mid-size sedans, the Ford Edge, which was the top choice among mid-size SUVs, and the Ford Expedition Max, which was the top choice in the full-size SUV segment.
Vincentric derives this data from its annual cost of ownership analysis, which takes into account eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. From there, Vincentric plugs its data into a statistical model to determine which models have lower than expected ownership costs when taking into account segment and price, and in this case, every vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces of Canada, plus the Northwest Territories, using a range of insurance profiles and an annual driving distance of 20,000 kilometers (12,427 miles). Interestingly, this year’s study featured quite a few new faces, too.
“For the third year in a row, we’ve seen a trend of a majority of Best CPO Value in Canada award winners being first-time winners in their segments,” said David Wurster, Vincentric President. “This year saw fourteen first-time winners out of a total of twenty-five vehicle segments.
