While automotive crashes aren’t exactly rare – many occur each and every day at various points around the globe – one could also say that many of them could be avoided if drivers were simply paying attention to their surroundings, following traffic laws, and driving in a reasonable manner. Of course, that’s far from the case, and we’re all acutely aware of the fact that distracted drivers cause more than their fair share of crashes on a regular basis – which unfortunately is what caused this Ford F-150 driver to be involved in their own accident.
In this footage recently posted to Reddit, we can see that traffic has gotten pretty backed up on this particular road. This prompts a couple of kind drivers to leave room for the Ford F-150 to make a left, including the driver whose dash cam captured the footage. Thus, the F-150 driver proceeds to take advantage, but they clearly don’t see the Ram pickup that’s attempting to move ahead of traffic in the center turn lane, either.
Instead, the Ram crashes into the Ford F-150, which causes the airbags in the latter model to deploy in what seems to be a low-speed yet potentially costly incident. As one might imagine, this incident led to a pretty heated debate in the comments as to who is really at fault here, with many believing that both drivers are to blame.
When Two Idiots Paths Cross [oc]

We certainly can’t blame the Ford F-150 driver for trying to turn left as other vehicles allowed them to, and it’s unclear if they were able to even see the Ram pickup before it was too late. The same could be said of the Ram driver, as they clearly didn’t see the F-150 coming, nor did they have time to stop. It’s unclear if the Ram was attempting to turn or just cut ahead of traffic in the center lane, but regardless, the clear takeaway here is that taking things a bit more slowly could have prevented yet another accident on the roadways.

Not hard to put the blame in the idiot in the Ram as he is driving in an area not laned for traffic, but in my experience on the road a large majority of full size pickup drivers drive like total $hit. When i see them i assume they do something stupid. They seldom let me down.
I agree. The Ram’s “lane” is solid, cross-ed through painted, and obviously not a travel lane. He may have entered it further back, turning left from a side business on the other side of the street, and back where it was a valid center turn/merge lane. Clearly the Ram was not at the impact point in a legal lane. That said, the Ford driver was in too big of a hurry to use proper care crossing lanes, and shouldn’t have been trying to cross solid yellow either.
The idiot is truly the Ford F150 driver cutting in front of the Ram Truck driver. You can’t just bully your way in front of people no matter what you are driving. So the Ford is at fault.
Where I live (state laws vary) that painted and crossed center area is to be treated the same as a raised median. In other words, it is not legal to cross it. Looks like both the Ram and the F-150 have violated the law. That aside, pulling out across stopped traffic is one of the most dangerous things one can do.
I think the driver of the Ram is at fault for driving in the non passing lane, and hitting the 150.
The guy in the Dodge is an idiot for simply driving a Dodge! 😛
