Certified pre-owned (CPO) vehicles have become incredibly popular in recent years, particularly as production issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic made finding a new car rather difficult for a long time. CPO models offer up the next best thing in many regards, as they’ve been thoroughly vetted by dealers to ensure that they’re gently used, giving one extra peace of mind compared to purchasing a regular old used vehicle. Thus, it’s notable that the Ford Maverick Hybrid has been highlighted as a solid CPO target.
Piggybacking off winning the same award in the U.S. recently, the Ford Maverick Hybrid has now won a Vincentric Best CPO Value in Canada Award as well, this time, as one of that organization’s 2024 honorees. As was the case in the U.S., the Ford Maverick Hybrid topped the small/mid-size pickup segment, beating out seven other competitors by offering owners the lowest fuel, operating, and total costs of ownership, with the latter expenses coming in at 19.6 percent lower than expected levels. In topping its class, the Ford Maverick Hybrid was also joined by the Ford Fusion, which ranked first among mid-size sedans, the Ford Edge, which was the top choice among mid-size SUVs, the Ford Expedition Max, a top choice among large SUVs, and the Ford F-150 Lighting, a model that bested all other half-ton full-size pickups.
Vincentric derives this data from its annual cost of ownership analysis, which stems from eight different cost factors – depreciation, fees & taxes, financing, fuel, insurance, maintenance, opportunity cost, and repairs. From there, Vincentric plugs its data into a statistical model to determine which models have lower than expected ownership costs when taking into account segment and price, and in this case, every vehicle was evaluated in all ten provinces of Canada, plus the Northwest Territories, using a range of insurance profiles and an annual driving distance of 20,000 kilometers (12,427 miles). Interestingly, this year’s study featured quite a few new faces, too.
“For the third year in a row, we’ve seen a trend of a majority of Best CPO Value in Canada award winners being first-time winners in their segments,” said David Wurster, Vincentric President. “This year saw fourteen first-time winners out of a total of twenty-five vehicle segments. This trend goes to show that Canadian shoppers who are in the market for a CPO vehicle have a wide variety of great-value models to choose from. For shoppers who may be overwhelmed by the decision, the Vincentric Best CPO Value in Canada awards can provide guidance and empower them to shop with confidence.”

I am guessing CPO stands for used vehicle. Might be nice to share that with readers.
The first three words in the first sentence in the first paragraph are certified pre-owned followed by (CPO).
