Ford Mustang Production Got Back On Track In August 2024

Historically speaking, production of many Ford and Lincoln vehicles tends to take a dip in the month of July each year amid summer shutdowns at various plants, as well as the Independence Day holiday. That was once again the case for almost every Ford and Lincoln model in July 2024, and that included Ford Mustang production at the Flat Rock Assembly plant. However, we now know that the pony car rebounded in a big way in August.

According to FoMoCo’s August sales report, the automaker produced 5,659 Ford Mustang models at Flat Rock last month, compared to a grand total of zero in July. That’s also quite a bit more than the 3,031 Mustangs produced in June, and is right in line with every other month of 2024 thus far. It’s unclear if Flat Rock was shut down during part or all of July – which would explain that particular goose egg – as the automaker didn’t respond to Ford Authority‘s request for that information.

Following a complete redesign for the 2024 model year, the 2025 Ford Mustang isn’t receiving any major changes, though there are a couple of notable additions – including the new 60th Anniversary Package, which features some retro styling elements throughout. Customers can choose between Wimbledon White, Race Red, or Vapor Blue paint to pair with that package – or, for a select few, Brittany Blue – on GT Premium models in both coupe and convertible configurations, and with either the six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. Brittany Blue examples are only available as a coupe with the automatic, however.

The 2025 Ford Mustang is also dropping four exterior colors from its available list of hues – Atlas Blue Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Yellow Splash Metallic Tri-Coat, and Dark Matter Gray, while gaining two others – Molten Magenta Metallic Tri-Coat and Wimbledon White. The pony car is gaining dual-zone automatic climate control as standard equipment, but also losing its wireless charging pad, as well as the EcoBoost High Performance Package.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

Maybe that is why shipping from the plant is dead slow. My GT was built 8/20 and the latest info on delivery dates to the dealer (Connecticut) is 9/17-9/23. Why would it take a full month to truck a car from Michigan to Connecticut
