It’s no secret that charging infrastructure remains one of the biggest barriers standing in the way of more widespread EV adoption, which is precisely why Ford has been working diligently to make this process more convenient for its customers. Aside from offering free public charging trials for Ford Mustang Mach-E and Ford F-150 Lightning owners, The Blue Oval continues to expand its own network, is providing owners with free adapters and access to the Tesla Supercharger network, and is also focusing on improving the at-home charging experience, too. Now, Ford Power Promise aims to make the latter method of charging even easier.
The new Ford Power Promise program offers retail customers that purchase or lease a Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning, or E-Transit a free home charger when they take delivery of those vehicles, after which they can also receive a free standard installation of that charger as well. The concept here is to make it easier for Ford EV buyers to set up home charging without having to figure out which charger is best for their application or working to find a reputable installer, not to mention the fact that it also saves them money at the same time. As for Ford Pro fleet customers, they’ll also be receiving a commercial charging cash incentive as well.
The Ford Power Promise program begins on October 1st, 2024, and runs through January 2nd, 2025, and it doesn’t just include a free home charger and installation, either. In fact, customers also receive 24/7 live support with proactive charging assistance, along with roadside assistance that will pick customers up and take them to the nearest charging station in the event that they do run out of charge.
Ford Power Promise is just the latest in a series of special programs The Blue Oval has introduced in an effort to sway both retail and fleet customers toward EVs over the past few years. Ford Pro customers previously received a series of complimentary services and trials for things like charging and software back in 2021, and this past July, FoMoCo also began offering complimentary EV chargers for customers in California – benefits its rivals are emulating in many cases as well.

Well this is a unique situation.
For a few years GM gave a free 220 receptacle installation AND a free charging 220 cord for bolt and caddy buyers.
That all ends for the 2025 model year.
Now, Ford is giving 3 things for free.
A NACS adapter for Tesla chargers
A 220 charging cord.
A permanently installed wall box, essentially a second additional charger.
GM always offered a 220 volt charging cord on anything but the bolt EV.
Now, that’s all they offer
Let’s see who changes their mind first. I bet GM blinks first.
This whole deal is getting interesting. Is the federal Gov lending a hand in this with some sort of incentive? Hope not because they are running out of our money. And I am to old to worry about how long an electric car will go before I am stranded in the North 40.
