Ford Says Blue Division Profitable In All Regions

Ford has faced its fair share of challenges in recent years, and we aren’t just talking about an EV-focused Model e division that continues to post negative profits. Rather, Ford has also been working to right the proverbial ship in various global markets where it hasn’t performed well in the recent past either, though in most cases, its strategic shifts in those areas seem to be paying off. In fact, the ICE-focused Ford Blue division is doing quite well across the entire globe, it seems.

During its recent Q2 2024 earnings call with investors, The Blue Oval revealed that the Ford Blue division is now profitable in all of the regions where those vehicles are sold, which is quite the big deal. Ford Blue includes not only traditional gas-powered vehicles, but also, hybrids, with plans to expand its partially-electrified offerings across the entire lineup by 2030 amid tremendous sales increases as of late.

Coming off a second quarter that saw it post a massive increase in warranty costs – much of which it blames on software issues – Ford continues to not only work to improve initial quality, but also, retool its lineup and overall strategy across the globe. This was on clear display a few years ago when The Blue Oval opted to end its manufacturing operations in Brazil after losing billions of dollars, as well as retool its lineup in that region to include models imported from other markets.

Ford China has also shifted away from developing new models specifically for customers in that market to building existing ones locally, which has thus far paid off in the world’s largest automotive market. The company is so committed to righting the proverbial ship that it even considered pulling out of Australia altogether at one point, as CEO Jim Farley revealed earlier this year.
