Earlier this year, young Cup Series racer Harrison Burton found out that his current team, Wood Brothers Racing (WBR), wasn’t interested in signing him on for another season behind the wheel of the No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse. That seat will be filled by Josh Berry in 2025, leaving Burton to find a new ride. Burton has now announced that he’ll step back down to the Xfinity Series for AM Racing (AMR) in 2025.
AMR says that it’s looking forward to adding Burton to the fold. It’s certainly a welcome turn of events for Burton, who recently won his first Cup Series race at Daytona for WBR, despite the knowledge that their relationship is coming to a close.
“I’m excited to join AM Racing and help build it into the race-winning race team I believe it can and will be,” Burton said in a press release. “I think this will be a great opportunity for me to take the things I’ve learned in the Cup Series, bring those to the Xfinity Series and be the best driver I can be. It’s a blessing to continue my NASCAR journey, and I intend to make the most of this opportunity.”
AMR renewed its agreement with Roush Yates Engines, who will supply the power units for its Mustang race cars. It will also continue its technical alliance with the Haas Factory Team, which has been rebranded since the death of Stewart-Haas Racing.

His experiences across NASCAR’s National Series will position him to be a leader and a catalyst in our pursuit of Victory Lane and the goals we ultimately envision for this program.”
He added, “We are equally proud to continue our strong partnerships with Ford Performance, Roush Yates Engines and HAAS Factory Team. These collaborations have been instrumental in supporting our team’s growth and success, and we look forward to building upon these relationships in the upcoming season. We will continue to invest in this team, our employees and ultimately, our future.”
At the time of this writing, it’s not clear what number will decorate the doors of Burton’s NASCAR Ford race car, and his sponsor lineup has yet to be announced.
