Following a relatively quiet summer with several shutdowns for holiday observances, operations at the Ford Chicago Assembly plant ramped back up in August. The facility is responsible for the Ford Explorer and Ford Explorer and the Lincoln Aviator, and given that Explorer production saw an uptick in August, it’s no surprise to learn that production of the Aviator picked back up last month, too.
Production of the Lincoln Aviator swelled 11 percent last month, up from 1,967 units to 2,180, according to the automaker’s latest sales report. The increase is a welcome sight after the luxury crossover experienced a slight decrease in output during July. Comparatively, the Explorer saw an eight percent increase to 13,301 units last month, indicating that operations at Chicago are getting back to normal after a few months of decreased output.
Both the 2025 Lincoln Aviator and 2025 Ford Explorer debuted earlier this year. Deliveries are well underway as of early August, putting both vehicles that much closer to the hands of their buyers.
The refreshed 2025 Aviator has a lot of welcome changes in store for the luxury crossover. It received an updated front and rear fascia to set it apart from its pre-refresh counterparts, while inside, it gets a new, larger 13.2-inch infotainment screen coupled with the 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster running Lincoln Digital Experience software. BlueCruise, the automaker’s semi-autonomous driver assist program, is available in the luxury crossover for the first time since its introduction, enabling drivers to take their hands off the wheel in certain circumstances.
Under the hood, the updated Aviator packs the twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 EcoBoost engine, which is capable of 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That engine joins up with the 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel-drive is standard fare while all-wheel-drive is optional for a premium.
Pricing for the 2025 Lincoln Aviator starts at $61,300 for the base Premiere trim, including destination freight charges.
