The 2024 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) season has produced some mixed results for the M-Sport Ford team, though it has secured several podium finishes along the way and remains in the points hunt. In fact, M-Sport Ford secured its third straight podium finish and a successful debut for the non-hybrid Puma Rally1 at Rally Poland in early July, but that streak came to an end at Rally Latvia a few weeks later amid mechanical issues.
Now, the M-Sport Ford rally team is looking ahead to Rally Chile – which is set to take place September 26th-29th – but before that takes place, the WRC unit must take on Acropolis Rally Greece, which is scheduled for this upcoming weekend following the summer break. The ninth round of the 2024 WRC season presents drivers with challenging gravel stages, which M-Sport Ford will look to conquer with a driver lineup consisting of Adrien Fourmaux and Alex Coria, and Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka, who return to their pair of Ford Puma Rally1s, along with Jourdan Serderidis returning to the team for his home event with Frédéric Miclotte.
Fourmaux is currently sitting fifth in the championship standings after securing his fourth podium finish of the season at Rally Finland last month, and has already tackled Greece twice in his career – giving him a bit of a leg up in that regard. This year will also mark Grégoire Munster’s third trip to Greece, and his first in the Puma Rally1. As for Jourdan Serderidis, he returns to the seat of a Puma Rally1 racer for the first time since Safari Rally Kenya earlier this year.
“It’s great to be getting back to rallying after a few weeks off, and Greece is a fantastic event to kick-off the action for these remaining four rounds. It’s always an exciting rally to watch, with a lot of variables, and I think we’re in a good position to do well here,” said Richard Millener, M-Sport Team Principal. “Adrien is having a great season, his consistency is testament to his growth as a driver and this has seen him rewarded with four podium finishes already this year. There’s no reason he can’t do this again if he stays out of trouble in Greece. Grégoire also has some good experience here in the WRC2 category, giving him a valuable insight in how best to survive this tricky event! I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone gets on.”
