With the regular season in the books, the forthcoming race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on September 8th, 2024 kicks off the 2024 Playoffs. The Blue Oval is hot off a win at Darlington and the NASCAR Ford drivers are sitting pretty in the latest Power Rankings as the Cup Series heads into this weekend’s race.
According to the most recent Power Rankings report from NASCAR.com, the new ratings only include the 16 drivers who made the Playoffs. Harrison Burton, whose No. 21 Ford Mustang Dark Horse earned an upset win at Daytona, is ranked 16th after finishing outside the top 20 at Darlington, which seems to be the status quo. However, Atlanta behaves like a superspeedway, so he might just be ok this weekend.
Austin Cindric slots in 15th. His No. 2 Mustang hasn’t been on the radar the last few weeks, but he’s finished 19th or better in seven of the last 11 races. Chase Briscoe, who won at Darlington last weekend, is 13th, but he has not finished better than 15th at Atlanta in the No. 14 Mustang.
Brad Keselowski looks pretty strong. He’s ranked ninth, and he does well at superspeedway-style races, so it’s not hard to imagine his No. 6 NASCAR Ford finding Victory Lane this weekend. Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Mustang, is ranked eighth, and while he’s never won at Atlanta, he’s led quite a few laps and could finally turn that success into a victory.
Ryan Blaney retains his honor as the highest-ranked NASCAR Ford driver on the list, slotting in fifth. He has a 6.25 average finish over the last eight races in the No. 12 Mustang, and all eyes are on the defending series champion as the Playoffs begins. He lost the spring Atlanta race by mere inches and is no doubt in search of redemption this Sunday.
The green flag at Atlanta is scheduled to drop on September 8th, 2024 at 3 p.m. EST.
