North American Ford Ranger On Track For Refresh In 2027

The all-new, fully redesigned Ford Ranger debuted in various global markets long before the mid-size pickup arrived in the U.S. for the 2024 model year – way back in 2022 for the 2023 model year in places like Thailand and Australia, in fact. Given the fact that The Blue Oval tends to refresh its pickups every three years or so, this means that we’re likely already looking ahead to a mid-cycle action for the current-generation Ford Ranger, at least in global markets, though we now know when that might happen in the U.S. as well.

According to Automotive News, the Ford Ranger is currently slated to receive a refresh in the U.S. in 2027, which could make it a 2028 model. At that time, the Ranger is also expected to get a hybrid powertrain, though the off-road-focused Tremor should return to the lineup before that mid-cycle action.

As Ford Authority previously reported, the Ford Ranger is rumored to be in line for a refresh in other markets before the U.S. – for the 2026 model year – which makes sense given the fact that it launched in those same markets some time earlier. That same report also noted that the Ford Ranger and Everest could also be in line for a more comprehensive redesign in 2029 or 2030 for Australia and 2031 for North America, meaning that the current model would only have a seven-year lifespan – a bit shorter than previously expected.

As for the new version of the Ford Ranger Tremor, it just debuted in Australia back in late July, though that model will likely differ a bit from its American counterpart. As for a potential hybrid variant, the plug-in hybrid Ranger debuted for global markets some time ago, and was previously rumored to be coming to the U.S. as early as this year – though now, that doesn’t seem likely to happen, and the PHEV may instead launch as part of this upcoming refresh.

Hopefully , the front end won’t be “enhanced” to look like the ‘25 Maverick. The Ranger is a good looking truck.

Given the exploding demand for PHEVs, delaying bringing that model stateside seems right in line with Ford’s “don’t give ’em what they want” ethos.

Hope they don’t screw up the front end like the 2025 Maverick.

I agree 100% – would love to see that configuration of the Ranger in ’25. Bring back area 51 color and I’m all in.
