Poll: Is The 2025 Ford Maverick Better Looking Than The 2024?

Prior to the debut of the refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick, Ford Authority asked our readers which front end design they preferred – the outgoing 2024 model, or the newly revamped one. The results, well, they weren’t terribly close, with a whopping 73 percent saying that they think the front end present on the outgoing model is more attractive than the refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick, while a mere 27 percent prefer the new design. Now that the compact pickup has officially been revealed, we’re curious to know – which do you think is the better looking pickup?

Now that we know all of the details pertaining to the 2025 Ford Maverick refresh, it’s clear that each trim level has its own distinct styling elements – XL, XLT, Lariat, and the Tremor, which has officially upgraded from an optional package to a trim for the new year, along with the street performance focused Lobo. The new front end features darkened LED headlamps, along with a revised front bumper and grille, while higher trims get LED projector headlamps with signature lighting.

The Lobo features its own unique front end treatment as well, one complete with a lower fascia that sits much closer to the ground. It stands to reason that some may prefer the look of that particular variant, or perhaps one trim level over another, but we’re curious to know how our readers feel about the new design, overall.

Thus far, it seems as if the most controversial element present on the front end of the 2025 Ford Maverick is its revamped front bumper and headlight design, in which the bumper now extends up into the headlights. Ford noted that it did this to give the Maverick a more modern look, but to some, it just looks a bit clunky. Thus, we’re curious to know – which front end design do you prefer, the new or the old? Let us know by voting in the poll below!

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.

Nope…that big plastic piece Ford slapped in the front doesn’t help at all…
they should have used the F150 as an inspiration for the refresh and make the front more cleaner and modern….

I agree the new style stinks. Was considering a 2025, currently have a 2024 Hybrid Lariat but I much prefer the 24′ style. Sure hope Ford realizes that the 25′. You would think Ford would do some marketing design concepts with Maverick buyers to collect their opinions before going into production. We don’t want another “Edsel”.

The poll at the bottom says otherwise………the complete opposite, so not sure where their numbers came from.
No handle bar mustache for my Mav.

I like my 23XL and 24Lariat. Didn’t buy a 25 just because of the front end. Hideous looking. Maybe next time Ford.

No! They saved money on the styling and raised the price. They dont learn their lesson.

The 2025 Maverick looks good. The issue is when the Maverick came out it was priced $20-$25K. Now you need to decide if you want to spend a little bit more money and get a Ranger. I’ve been a lifelong Ford consumer/customer but you are pricing high. The Maverick is a great example of it. People wanted a compact truck like the 1983-2012 Ranger in size. No doubt the Maverick is but it comes with a price.

A little bit more money? How do you figure?

We’re talking a difference of $5-20k difference depending on trim level of each vehicle.

The reason why buyers love the Mav and not the Santa Cruz is bc the Mav looks like, well a REAL TRUCK – I would’ve thought w all the marketing focus during the launch of the Mav how it looks and fits in w Ford’s pickup lineup that Ford would’ve understood that.. but apparently I was wrong…

I ordered the new one, and I still think the old one looks better. But I want the features on the new one.

I waited over a year for my 2024 XL in cherry red and it still wasn’t being built. I now have an order in for a 2025 XLT hybrid in Eruption Green with AWD and it looks great as do a few others but in some or the none descript colors and white I can agree with the negative side of opinions.

It’s still now an overpriced little cheapy pick up. Did away with phone charging big mistake and on other models of truck and cars. They are hurting for money so they thought HEY we can just raise prices, so less people will buy them. lol
Old front end design is better liked they should do these polls before any redesign.

To call this redesign “Clunky” is being kind…”Ham-Handed” is probably more accurate.
It smacks of the old philosophy of ‘change for the sake of change’. Definitely not an improvement.
Furthermore, it was obviously predicated on the maxim of least possible cost. It looks like DuctTape job from the old “Red Green Show”.
They could have put in at least a little more effort.
    Thankfully, I have a ’22.

Looks cheap, foreign, impractical, and UGLY. Ford used to be a leader but with this poor poor redesign, they are a follower. It was designed to be the little brother of the F150 but now it looks like it has a birth defect. Whoever designed this and whoever approved it should be fired. Your inout is all about YOU and not the market.

If you think the Maverick is overpiced, go buy a cheaper one. Ha! It will be a used truck because it’s already the cheapest. They underpriced it when it was introduced and that’s why they couldn’t make them fast enough. I bought a decked out Lariat and I love it.

This is a meaningless poll since the market segment Ford targeted for the Maverick is not truck owners or Ford Authority readers. Maverick was aimed at winning over owners of compact SUVs and hatchbacks from Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc. A big percentage of Maverick sales are “conquests” from other brands – a huge success for Ford.

Not true. After owning four F150s and now retired, I wanted a smaller truck, yes the Maverick is a truck!! It will do the majority of things that my F150s did except haul heavier loads. I don’t need to haul heavy stuff. The Maverick is a great truck!! After driving over 6K miles I’m averaging 42 mpg in North Georgia, just north of Atlanta. The milage was the thing for me and the Hybrid is king with tons of power.

Well, Farley & Company have messed up everything else, *may-pop-at-any-time* engines, many electrical issues, a 4 door Mustang … now they’ve messed up the Maverick. And with the price changes in the Maverick the Hyundai Santa Cruz pickup if you go ahead to head might cost less when you put the XLT up against the SE trim levels. And Farley & Company the Santa Cruz’s pickup box is water tight with the optional tonneau cover … after four model years the Maverick still leaks. Yeah, I’m looking at the Hynudai.

2025 looks butt-ugly with the new front end. Are those mud flaps on the headlights or what?

Ford’s become so cheep they don’t use focus groups anymore the 2025 Maverick refresh bears this out.

  16. Ed

They must have forgotten to do focus groups or the front end was design by DEI hires in the design department.

A blind man can feel the ugliness in this hideous front end design. The person who designed it and the person who approved it should both be fired ASAP!

Was considering purchasing a maverick in 2025 but the new front end is hideous. Will scratch it off the list and probably move to next larger truck segment. Unfortunatly the Ranger is not much of a looker either so money likely going to Toyota or GM. Wish Ford could get some better designers for their light trucks.

The new front end of the ‘25 Maverick is a design failure. It definitely hurts the appeal of the truck. Very awkward and clumsy. Not integral. The design team should have done some marketing tests prior to the approval. I am a Ford truck guy but what a mistake.

HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL COME UP WITH A REPLACEMENT FRONT END .THIS NEW FRONT END WILL HURT 2025 SALES.

I’m guessing some designers are looking over their shoulders!! Looks like they wanted the front end to look like it was an EV and we all know how well EVs are selling!

Yep is the weird vertical flap things. Has me wondering if I really want the AWD Hybrid upgrade in the 2025. I’ll probably just need to find a nice aftermarket raptor style grill or something…

The new front end is the equivelent of the infamous Bangle BMW Butt from many years ago. Not a good thing.

Negative space can work if utilized properly. The empty space material pulled up under the lights in the front end totally does not work, furthermore, it is very ugly and looks like some kind of design flaw (aesthetic wise). Ford needs to figure out a way to get some kind of public opinion on design before they start mass producing something, now they are stuck with this. Also, the base model xl wheels are very very bad. I know it’s a base model, but I’ve seen cheap wheels that look 10 times better than that.

Ford hired the hood designers to get this refresh done – that is likely the only explanation for what they did…

Hood doesn’t align with the new nose; the nose is a mess; grill looks akward…WTH were they thinking?! FIRE whoever did this now…

    Hi my is Ed,
I was thinking about buying a new Maverick. I really liked the look of the Maverick it’s like taking the look of the full size truck and making the compact look the same great idea. But why would you hide the Headlights with that bumper Ford Engineers ruined the look with the bumper

I very much like my 2023’s truck-like front end. I absolutely do NOT like the current 2025 revamped front end with the lights being partially covered. It’s downright UGLY.
