Some Ford Mustang Mach-E EVs May Have Wind Noise Issues

The Blue Oval has published a new technical service bulletin (TSB) to remedy a problem with wind noise that impacts select 2021-2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E all-electric crossovers. TSB number 24-2230 actually supersedes another TSB – number 24-2002 – as it updates the symptom of this problem, along with the production fix date and the service procedure required to rectify it.

In this newly issued TSB, FoMoCo notes that some 2021-2024 Ford Mustang Mach-E models built on or before July 9th, 2024 may exhibit wind noise from the exterior mirrors and/or A-pillar area when the vehicle is traveling at speeds between 25-40 miles-per-hour. This problem reportedly stems from poor sealing of the lower mirror foam and the glass top run foam. As such, Ford has instructed dealers to repair it by installing new lower inner foam and glass top run foam, though it also notes that a small amount of wind noise coming from the exterior mirror is completely normal.

To fix this issue, dealers are being instructed to perform a road test to identify if wind noise is indeed coming from the mirrors and A-pillar, and if that is the case, a repair is needed. This process varies based on when the Ford Mustang Mach-E was built, but in general, dealers will remove the side mirrors and refit the mirror foam gasket and seal, then separate and fold back the front glass top run from the door frame.

Vehicles produced on or before November 6th, 2023 also require the removal of the existing lower inner foam, which is then replaced, and Ford even has a template to help verify the fit of the new foam piece. Once all of these new pieces are installed, the front door glass top run in the door frame and run channel, along with the side mirrors, can be reinstalled, and this job is then considered finished.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
