Supercars Championship team Walkinshaw Andretti United (WAU) announced that it will turn its back on Ford at the end of the 2025 season, partnering with Toyota for 2026 and beyond. In the meantime, the organization is still laser focused on its partnership with The Blue Oval and says that it will give the manufacturer everything it has until swap is official.
According to a report from Supercars.com, WAU says that it’s still “all in” with Ford despite the fact that it’s cutting ties with the automaker at the end of next season. Currently, the team fields the No. 25 Ford Mustang GT of Chaz Mostert and the No. 2 Mustang of Ryan Wood, but both drivers will take control of Toyota GR Supra race cars in 2026.
WAU first teamed up with Ford for the 2023 season, but the partnership didn’t produce a win that year. The 2024 season has been quite a bit different. Mostert has three victories under his belt in 2024 and is currently a championship favorite. WAU expects to be competitive in the forthcoming Bathurst 1000, and hopes to put Ford in Victory Lane in the iconic enduro race.
“It would be remiss of me not to acknowledge the journey we are on with Ford right now and our laser focus on winning the races ahead of us for the remainder of our time together. Ford have been absolutely fantastic to partner with,” said WAU director Ryan Walkinshaw.
He added, “To the Ford fans, thank you for embracing us with open arms. We aren’t done celebrating together yet, I can promise you. We are all in on 2024 and 2025, finishing our journey in the Blue Oval as strong as possible, which is what it deserves. Looking ahead, we can’t wait to welcome the entire Toyota dealer network, the loyal Toyota customer base, and all Toyota motorsport fans around the world to our Walkinshaw Andretti United family. But before that, you better believe we are desperate to conquer the mountain in a few weeks’ time.”
