Now that the 2024 Playoffs field has been set, the 16 Cup Series drivers that will be allowed to compete for the title this year have been chosen – at least until the Round of 16 wraps up in a few weeks. Of those 16 racers, six drive NASCAR Ford Mustang Dark Horse race cars, including some that are extreme longshots, while others are a safer bet.
The latest sports betting odds on NASCAR.com Harrison Burton raced his way into the postseason Playoffs by winning at Daytona, but he hasn’t had a great season beyond that. As such, his No. 21 NASCAR Ford is the longest shot in the 16-car field to win the title with 200-1 odds. Austin Cindric’s No. 2 Mustang is also a longshot at 120-1 odds, having raced his way in by winning at Gateway earlier this year. Chase Briscoe, who narrowly secured his Playoff slot by winning the final regular season race at Darlington, is also one of the riskier bets in the field at 100-1 odds.
Brad Keselowski looks quite a bit better to put the No. 6 NASCAR Ford Mustang down in history as the 2024 champion. His current odds to win the title are 20-1, as he’s had a pretty consistent season and has been a frontrunner all year. In fact, he was the first driver to win in the new Mustang Dark Horse race car. Joey Logano has also been a threat all year, and has 18-1 odds to win the championship in the No. 22 Mustang.
Unsurprisingly, defending Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney has the best odds to make history as a back-to-back championship winner. His odds of 8-1 make him one of the safest bets in the Playoffs, so keep an eye on the No. 12 Mustang throughout the next 10 races as the Cup Series season draws to a close.
