Xfinity NASCAR Ford Teams Lag At Watkins Glen: Video

The NASCAR Ford teams didn’t have much to write home about after the Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen on September 15th, 2024. In fact, the best Ford Mustang Dark Horse racer was that of Joey Logano, who finished ninth in the No. 15 Mustang.

Logano, a Cup Series regular, drove the No. 15 Mustang, which he took over for Hailie Deegan after she was ousted from the seat earlier this year. He was the only Blue Oval racer to finish inside the top 10. Riley Herbst, driver of the No. 98 Mustang, was the next-best racer, finishing 13th.

Cole Custer, driving the No. 00 Mustang, finished just outside the top 20, bringing his race car across the line 21st. Custer is still second in the points standings, however, tailing Justin Allgaier, driver of the No. 7 Chevy Camaro SS, by 43 points.

Meanwhile, Ryan Sieg’s No. 39 Mustang is in danger of being eliminated as the Xfinity Series heads to the final race of its regular season. It’ll come down to a race between him and the No. 1 Camaro of Sammy Smith for the final Playoffs slot, which will be decided at Bristol next weekend.

Connor Zilisch, driving the No. 88 Camaro in his first-ever national series start, won the race at Watkins Glen over the No. 81 Toyota TRD Supra of Sheldon Creed.
