A few years ago, the now-late Ken Block modified a 1990 Ford Mustang GT to teach his daughter, Lia, how to drift in, a car that also payed homage to perhaps the most famous Fox Body ever – the one that’s still owned by Vanilla Ice that starred in his video for the hit song Ice, Ice, Baby. After Block tragically passed away in early 2023, that same Ford Mustang popped up for auction but failed to sell after achieving a high bid of $23,000. Now, nearly a year later, that same GT has resurfaced.
Block’s old 1990 Ford Mustang GT is back up for grabs at Cars & Bids, looking just as fresh as it did last time we saw it. On the outside, this Fox Body pony car has been modified with an aftermarket mesh front grille and rear spoiler, a Hoonigan badge and windshield banner, and a set of 18-inch Rotiform LSR wheels, but as one might imagine, the mods here go far more than skin deep. Suspension-wise, the drift machine utilizes Maximum Motorsports subframe connectors, a rear sway bar, lower control arms, rear torque arm, caster/camber plates, and coilovers, along with Cobra brakes and SN95 Mustang steering knuckles.
Inside the cabin, this Fox Body features a set of Recaro seats with Mastercraft harnesses, a rear seat delete, a four-point roll bar, a Hoonigan hand brake, Holley EFI digital dash display, and a Holley Terminator touchscreen, coupled with the typical wear one would expect to see from a well-used drift machine.
Performance-wise, the original 5.0L V8 under this Mustang’s hood has been treated to upgrades including a BBK cold-air intake, a nitrous system, and a Holley Terminator electronic fuel injection setup, coupled with a Borla exhaust, though it’s unclear how much power it’s putting down as a result. Regardless, given its star-studded history – coupled with the soaring popularity of Fox Body Mustangs these days – we imagine that someone will step up and work to bring this unique example home in its second go-round on the auction block.
