2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E Recalled Over Power Brake Assist Loss

Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E crossovers due to an issue with power brake assist.

The defect: in affected vehicles, an over-the-air (OTA) update to the anti-lock braking system (ABS) may result in a loss of power brake assist, ABS, Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, and driver assistance features.

The hazards: a loss of power brake assist can extend the distance required to stop the vehicle. Additionally, a disabled antilock brake system and/or stability control system can result in a loss of vehicle control. Either of these scenarios can increase the risk of a crash.

Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

Components: anti-lock braking system

Affected vehicles: select 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E models produced between August 28th, 2020 and September 24th, 2021.

Number of vehicles affected: 50

Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on November 4th, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24S65.
