2022 Ford Bronco Dark Horse 6X6 Heading To Auction

There are a plethora of aftermarket parts and accessories already available for the sixth-generation Ford Bronco, not to mention entire turnkey custom builds offered by an array of different companies. However, few can match up to the ones coming out of Apocalypse Manufacturing – at least, in terms of utter shock value – as that outfit has been churning out some of the most eye-opening vehicles on earth for years now. That includes this 2022 Ford Bronco Dark Horse 6×6 model, which is slated to hit the auction block very soon.

This 2022 Ford Bronco Dark Horse 6×6 – one of just four built in total – will cross the block at Mecum’s Las Vegas sale later this month, in fact, where someone will get the chance to add the wild machine to their own garage. Finished in Area 51 paint, it features an array of modifications that include a six-wheel conversion with a powered tandem axle, coupled with a wheelbase that’s been stretched from 189 inches to 225 inches. It now sports a functional bed out back to boot, along with a slant-back fiberglass hardtop, a four-inch lift, and bronze 20-inch wheels wrapped with some aggressive looking tires.

Along with those modifications, this Ford Bronco Dark Horse also features Kevlar paint on the inside of the bed and on the fender flares, along with a six-legged Bronco emblem, plus a custom brown leather interior with a beefy stereo system. It’s powered by the twin-turbocharged 2.7L V6 EcoBoost engine, sending power to the wheels via the factory 10-speed automatic transmission and a custom driveshaft. Throw in some aftermarket bumpers and additional off-road lighting, and this Ford Bronco Dark Horse is certainly a head-turner, if nothing else.

Given how rare these six-wheeled Broncos are, it’s no surprise that it’s been a little while since we last saw one surface for sale. That happened this past July, when a black Kevlar-coated model popped up for auction as well, though it wound up hammering for a somewhat disappointing $84,000 – far less than it cost to acquire in the first place.

Brett's lost track of all the Fords he's owned over the years and how much he's spent modifying them, but his current money pits include an S550 Mustang and 13th gen F-150.
