Ford Motor Company is recalling select 2024 Ford Maverick models over an issue with the second-row child seat tether anchors.
The defect: in affected vehicles, the second-row child seat tether anchors may not properly secure a child seat, due to incomplete thread engagement. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 225, “Child Restraint Anchorage Systems.”
The hazards: a child seat that is not secured properly increases the risk of injury in the event of a crash.
Ford Motor Company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition.

Affected vehicles: select 2024 Ford Maverick models produced at the Hermosillo Assembly Plant on August 28th, 2024.
Number of vehicles affected: 5
The fix: dealers will repair the tether anchorage points, free of charge.
Owners should: wait for communications from Ford, which will begin on December 2nd, 2024. The Ford reference number for this recall is 24C33.

I’m sure if any of those five owners have young children they’ll appreciate this information.
