Since its debut, the redesigned 2024 Lincoln Nautilus has quickly won over both critics and consumers alike, racking up loads of wins in comparison tests against rivals and also scoring a number of notable awards, too. It’s clear that the new Nautilus has struck a chord with those that appreciate a luxurious crossover with the latest in terms of technology features, which should make it no surprise to learn that the same model is now a finalist for another notable accolade.
That accolade is the 2025 MotorTrend SUV of the Year award, and the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is one of 10 finalists vying for the honor. It joins the Chevy Equinox, GMC Hummer EV SUV, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia EV9, Lexus GX, Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Rivian R1S, Toyota Crown Signia, and Toyota Land Cruiser in that regard. MT looks at a variety of criteria to determine the winner, which is set to be revealed tomorrow – Advancement in Design, Engineering Excellence, Performance of Intended Function, Value, Efficiency, and Safety.
“The Nautilus takes the Lincoln badge to another level and gives us hope for the future of American luxury,” MotorTrend said of its selection. “The third-generation Nautilus does not try to be German or overly sporty. It is comfortable in its American skin as a dynamic cruiser with off-road capability when needed, plus a hybrid option to improve efficiency. We appreciate the Lincoln’s attention to detail, from the illuminated logo up front to the gorgeous big glass volume button. There is an unexpected wow factor when you step inside. This Black Label trim has rich saddle brown Alcantara and leather seats with perforations to showcase the white layer below and match the stitching and piping. They are comfortable and well-bolstered, offering top-notch massages, but the mechanism is a bit loud. Lincoln uses an impressive amount of high-end, soft materials and lighting to create a soothing atmosphere, enhanced by the scents that waft through the cabin and the excellent Revel sound system.”
If the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus manages to bring home this award, it would be just the latest of several – a list that already includes being a semifinalist for 2025 North American Utility of the Year, a spot on the latest Wards 10Best Interiors list, and ranking as one of the 20 hottest brands of the moment by AdAge.

If MT was based anywhere other than California (it IS based there), I’d give the Toyota the nod. But, it’ll be an EV, probably the Kia. I do see a lot of the new Nautilus’ around here. Bet most buyers aren’t aware of the China bit.
Very pleased Nautilus gets recognition. Almost weekly I find subtle perks in mine. Like the barely touch small square inside lights. And I love the tiny dot lights that stay on inside the vehicle at night. Well lit experience for night driving. Almost like a glow of elegance.
I looked at the Chevy Equinox in 2017. There was no sunroof in the one I looked at and the price was higher than the NightFall Edition Terrain. To me, the 2024 GMC I drove felt like a tin can.
